ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – A federal judge has sentenced a Palm Coast man to nearly 22 years in prison for purchasing a machine gun and silencer and assaulting a federal officer.

Prosecutors say Radbourne Mark Anthony Saleem, 40, met with a confidential informant in 2013 to discuss buying the weapon so he could burglarize homes. Two weeks later, authorities said he bought a .45 caliber pistol with a silencer and a machinegun for $1,000 from the informant.

Authorities said he sped toward agents aggressively as they tried to arrest him. He was shot several times and crashed into another vehicle before being thrown from his car.

He pleaded guilty last November and was sentenced Thursday.

The case was prosecuted as a part of a nationwide, gun-violence reduction initiative under the Department of Justice.
