PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush paid a visit to Charlotte County on Friday to drum up support for his presidential campaign. Bush hopes his experience of helping Charlotte County after Hurricane Charley will give him a boost. He attended a pep rally before a big football game between Charlotte High School and Port Charlotte High School. At the event, Bush focused on his efforts after the 2004 storm. “We saved people’s lives because we acted on behalf of people who truly needed the help of government,” said Bush. “I’m proud of how Florida responded to eight hurricanes and four tropical storms in 16 months.”
