DUNLAP, Tenn. (AP) – A Sequatchie County woman has been arrested after police say her 11-month-old son was treated for alcohol poisoning.

Local news outlets report 27-year-old Heather Oakes is charged with aggravated child abuse.

County sheriff’s office detective Jody Lockhart says authorities were contacted Monday by officials at Erlanger Sequatchie Valley in Dunlap about a baby being brought in by ambulance suffering from alcohol poisoning.

Lockhart says investigators found about 2 ounces of a clear alcoholic beverage in the child’s bottle. Lockhart says it’s unclear how much was in the bottle to begin with.

Lockhart says Oakes contends that the poisoning was accidental.

Lockhart says the child has since been released to the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. It isn’t immediately clear if Oakes has an attorney.
