Vandals spray paint cars, mailboxes in Naples neighborhood

NAPLES, Fla. – Neighbors in one Naples neighborhood woke up to find their vehicles and mailboxes had been vandalized.

It happened on 7th Avenue SW near Collier Boulevard on Saturday night.

“You know it’s just something that you don’t expect down here in Naples at all,” Fredrick Campogni said.

Campogni was holding his annual holiday party when he went outside around 2 a.m. to find his guests’ vehicles had been vandalized.

“My one buddy from Pittsburgh, his license plate was spray painted completely black and other people’s cars were spray painted with swastikas.”

“I don’t know why, I don’t know if they got mad at the party, if they were just doing it for fun or what,” another neighbor said.

As it turns out, several other neighbors also fell victim to the vandals. Mailboxes were smashed in, address numbers spray painted black, and there were writings and inappropriate images on the pavement.
“They were probably doing mailboxes the whole way down the street til they got to my house then all of a sudden they got to my house and saw 20 cars and they said, ‘well screw the mailboxes, we got 20 cars to paint,'” Campogni said.

People who live here say they can’t figure out who would do such a senseless crime, calling their street “a quiet neighborhood.”

“I don’t know if it’s immaturity or they’re young, who knows.”

If you know anything about this crime, please call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
