SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – The father of a French Mormon missionary who was headed for Ohio when she was wounded in the Brussels airport bombing says she’s recovering from burns and shrapnel injuries.

Thierry Clain said in a statement issued Friday by the Utah-based Mormon church that his daughter, Fanny Rachel Clain, had surgery to remove shrapnel from her body and is being treated for second-degree burns to her hands and face.

The 20-year-old woman from Montelimar, France, was catching a flight for her assignment in Cleveland.

Her father said she’s doing well but he hasn’t been able to speak with her. He said he will visit her Saturday.

The woman was at the airport with three other missionaries from Utah during the attack Tuesday.

All were hospitalized but are expected to survive.
