NAPLES, Fla.- Investigations into three recent “suspicious” incidents in Collier County have been closed, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

Deputies did not find any criminal behavior in the following incidents reported:

  • On April 13, deputies began investigating a report of a man attempting to lure children into a wooded area near Crestview Circle in Immokalee. Deputies who responded were unable to find a suspect and no missing children were reported in the area.
  • On April 15 near 20th Place SW in Golden Gate, deputies say a person who made contact with two elementary-age children was a special needs high school student who did not have criminal motivation or ill intent.
  • On April 29, a 9-year-old girl reported a man on a bicycle approached her near Thomasson and Bayshore drives. After investigating, deputies say the man made contact with the girl because she was crossing in front of his bicycle and he was concerned for her safety. There was no criminal motivation or ill intent, deputies said.

At least 10 incidents have been reported to the sheriff’s office within the last few months. Deputies say in most of the remaining incidents, the interaction between the suspect and the reporter was not criminal in and of itself.
