FORT MYERS, Fla.- Two men attempted to rob the Speedway convenience store, 4920 Palm Beach Boulevard, at gunpoint late Tuesday night.

Witnesses say a store clerk and a customer were standing outside the Speedway just before 11 p.m. when a man wearing a ski mask and armed with a black handgun, accompanied by another man, pointed the firearm at the victims and ordered them into the store.

A moment of confusion between the two suspects allowed the victims to get into the store and quickly lock the door, preventing the robbers from going inside, authorities said.

One of the suspects fled on a bicycle while the other ran away in an unknown direction.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
