ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – The Orlando International Airport’s latest passenger traffic figures have once again broken the airport’s record as officials move forward with constructing a new terminal.

The Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/2aZRj4t ) reported Monday that the airport’s new record ceiling is 40.7 million passengers from June last year to June this year, an increase of about 250,000 over May’s record count.

Year-to-date statistics show international and domestic traffic have both risen over last year at the airport, with international traffic increasing by 15 percent.

The airport is currently working on constructing a $1.8 billion airport terminal south of its current location. The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority has said it could break ground early next year on the southern terminal and have 16 to 21 gates ready by 2019.
