Jury picked for trial of Cape Coral man accused of killing father

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The jury has been chosen for the trial of Matthew Marshall, the 33-year-old man accused of killing and dismembering his father, James, 58.

Matthew Marshall has chosen to represent himself, which meant he questioned potential jurors.

At Friday’s trial, Marshall asked jurors if someone could be convicted without a crime scene, cause of death or murder weapon.

Matthew Marshall was arrested in February after he was caught using James Marshall’s credit card the day he disappeared, according to Cape Coral police.

James Marshall’s body parts were found near their home and in a nearby canal.

The trial will resume Monday Oct. 10.
