FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida hopes to receive approximately 10,000 turkeys or chickens to provide families a Thanksgiving meal.

There has been a drop in poultry related donations, according to the food bank’s website, but there are multiple ways to help this holiday season.

Participants can bring items to Fort Myers Floral Designs and receive a bouquet of flowers. Drop offs will take place between 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Nov. 7 to Nov. 11 to the flower shop, located at 11480 S. Cleveland Ave. in Fort Myers.

In addition, poultry donations will be received at either of the Harry Chapin Food Bank warehouses.

People can drop off donations from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Fort Myers warehouse, located at 3760 Fowler St. in Fort Myers.

Donations will also be accepted from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Naples warehouse, located at 2221 Corporation Blvd. in Naples.

The last day to donate is Nov. 20. Cash donations are also accepted, and $14 equates to the cost of a turkey. For more information about Blossoms for Birds, visit the Harry Chapin Food Bank website, or the Fort Myers Floral Designs website.
