FORT MYERS, Fla. – Two Southwest Florida men — Thomas Davanzo, of Estero, and Robert Fedyna, of Naples — were sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for a multi-state fraud scheme Tuesday, the Department of Justice said.

The men defrauded fuel buyers and United States taxpayers of more than $47 million through the sale of fake biodiesel credits at Shell gas stations and by making false tax credit claims, the DOJ said.

Davanzo will spend 10 years and one month in prison, while Fedyna will spend 11 years and three months in prison. The duo was ordered to give up millions of dollars worth of cars, gold coins, jewelry, expensive watches, horses and homes.
