Cape Coral man arrested for crashing into existing crash

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A 79-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly crashing into a pre-existing crash scene at the 3900 block of Del Prado Boulevard South, according the the Cape Coral Police Department.

Cape Coral police were working on a crash scene when Eugenio Pepe’s vehicle came barreling down the road.

Both officers and a tow truck driver had to dodge out of the vehicle’s path.

Pepe’s vehicle struck an officer’s patrol vehicle, pushing it into the other officer’s vehicle. He then continued on to hit the already crashed vehicle, as well as the tow truck that was loading it.

Pepe was arrested for four counts of reckless driving with property damage.

He was transported to the Lee County Jail and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
