16-year-old driver in deadly December Buckingham crash issued citation

FORT MYERS, Fla. The 16-year-old driver involved in a deadly crash in December has been issued a no passing violation citation, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened Dec. 22 at the intersection of Buckingham and Bird roads, according to the FHP.

Chastity Ayala Salidivar, 42, of Fort Myers, was killed when her Ford Mustang collided with a Ford F-150, officials said. The 16-year-old driver of the F-150 must appear in court, but the date is unclear.

The 16-year-old driver sustained minor injuries in the crash, and was taken to HealthPark Medical Center, according to the FHP. In addition, the five-year-old passenger in Salidivar’s car was also taken to HealthPark with minor injuries.

No further information was immediately available.
