Placida Road work to begin in Charlotte County

CAPE HAZE, Fla. A large-scale construction project on Placida Road may affect daily commutes.

The county will soon begin a $13 million road safety improvement project from Rotonda West to the Boca Grande Causeway. Crews will resurface the road, extend utility lines and left-turn lanes, and add a nearly 7-mile bike and pedestrian path.

The project is scheduled to start within the next two weeks. Work is expected to finish next summer.
