NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. A second warning was issued at North Shore Park on Thursday due to high levels of bacteria in the water, the Florida Department of Health in Lee County said.

Residents are advised to not enter the water, as escherichia coli bacteria is associated with an increased risk of swimming-associated gastroenteritis illness, which can cause diarrhea and abdominal pain, health officials said.

An advisory issued on April 28 will remain in place until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level, health officials said. New test results should be available for the park on May 9.

The non-swimming park, which includes a beach, is located at the foot of the U.S. 41 bridge and is primarily used by boaters and anglers.
