Fort Myers, Fla. – A City of Fort Myers project will force road closures on McGregor Boulevard through Oct. 20. The city is replacing storm drainage on McGregor Blvd. from Colonial Boulevard to Poinciana Avenue. McGregor Blvd. will be closed through 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, from Del Rio Drive to Barcelona Avenue and just south Alcazar Avenue to Braman Avenue. Traffic is detoured as follows: Northbound – Braman Avenue to Cortez Boulevard to Del Rio Drive to Manuels Drive to McGregor Boulevard Southbound – Del Rio Drive to Cortez Boulevard to Alhambra Drive to McGregor Boulevard East/west access only crossing McGregor Boulevard at Lynwood Avenue, Alcazar Avenue, Alhambra Drive, Coconut Drive and Braman Avenue will be able to cross McGregor Boulevard. A detour will remain in place during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours until work is complete. McGregor Boulevard – outside of the detour area Motorists should expect traffic shifts on McGregor Boulevard from Poinciana Avenue to Colonial Boulevard. Motorists should expect one lane open to traffic from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Flaggers will maintain both directions of travel. In addition to replacing the existing pipes, the project will resurface the roadway, and replace some sidewalk and signage. The speed limit on McGregor Boulevard has been temporarily reduced to 25 mph in the work zone.
