A 43-year-old man was arrested Friday in connection with the death of his girlfriend, the North Port Police Department.
Jason Doty, of North Port, is facing a second-degree murder charge, according to police.
The victim, later identified as 41-year-old Erica White, was found with multiple lacerations, police said.
The circumstances leading up to the killing were unclear, but the incident was classified as domestic and appeared to be isolated, according to police.
Police responded to a 911 call around 4:30 a.m. to a home on the 13500 block of Tamiami Trail.
