A WINK News Investigates story. WINK News photo. Mark and Barbara Boocher said their air conditioning and heating system has not been functioning correctly since July. The couple claimed they paid $17,500 for a revamp of their air conditioning and heating system, which was supposed to include new ductwork. Months later the job was not completed. Last Tuesday, when police raided the Bonita Springs offices of Bruno the couple shared their story with WINK News. Less than a week later, another air conditioning company agreed to fix the Boocher’s system at no cost. Purified Air had previously been out to the Boocher home in November to assess the problems. “When we saw the video we realized they were really hurting and wanted to help out immediately,” said Rick Spriggs, owner of Purified Air. The couple had a brand new system installed that comes with a 10-year warranty. Purified Air routinely gives a free system to people in need as part of their AC for a cause program. To date, the Florida Attorney General’s office has received 90 consumer complaints on Bruno Total Home Performance. The Attorney General’s Office has an open criminal investigation against the company and an active civil consumer investigation. Anyone who needs to file a complaint is asked to call 1(866) 9NO-SCAM. WINK News has asked to interview the owner of Bruno, but so far that request has not been granted. A spokesperson for the company did not respond to an email requesting comment Wednesday. The company posted the following statement on its Facebook page after the police raid: “Yesterday’s law enforcement activities came as a shock to all of us here at Bruno Total Home Performance. We want to apologize for any disruption of service to our loyal client base as well as new customers in our pipeline. We are dedicated to quality workmanship and honest business practices, as well as to our outstanding staff of more than 200 people and their families who have helped make us the company we are. So many of the posts on social media are untrue, and as we begin to learn more about these matters, we will keep you informed and provide the details. We are continuing to operate, honoring all of our warranties and will be getting back to servicing our clients as quickly as possible.”
