A man and woman were victim’s of a shooting at a community yacht club.
On Sunday, Cape Coral Police Department responded to a reported shooting at the Cape Coral Yacht Club as well as the home of the victim’s who reported it.
CCPD released details of the shooting investigation Monday.
According to the CCPD incident report, A 20 year-old man and an 18-year-old woman went to the yacht club and were approached by two suspects, who they didn’t know. One of the suspects asked inappropriate and sexual things to one of the victims, who does not speak English. Then, the victim’s told police the suspects began to push them, and the larger suspect punched one of the victims.
The victims yelled for help, and a family came from the beach area of the yacht club and broke up the scene. And the victims went to their car to leave.
The victims were in their car moving away from the yacht club when they saw the two suspects were standing in the median of the entrance to the yacht club. The larger suspect moved toward the car and pulled a handgun and pointed it at the victim in the driver’s seat and shot at the driver’s side window, shattering the glass window.
The victim in the driver’s seat said they immediately felt pain in their abdominal area. The victim’s called 911 to report what happened and drove back to their home to meet police.
The victim’s told police they wished to press charges when they met police at their home. Police confirmed the victim in the driver’s seat had a graze bullet wound on their left side of their abdominal area. The victim refused medical treatment.
The bullet from the gun was found in the victim’s car.
CCPD has not found the suspects but continue to look for them.
Master Sgt. Allan Kolak, CCPD public affairs officer, told WINK News that no arrests have been made at this point.
