Crash with at least one fatality near Litleon Rd. in North Fort Myers Sunday morning. (Credit: WINK News) A victim of a fatal crash in August in Lee County has finally been named. David R. Martell, 71, was the driver killed after reversing into traffic on Littleton Road in North Fort Myers. According to Florida Highway Patrol, Martell was going west on Littleton Road just past Aluminum Road when he pulled into the driveway of a storage facility, hitting a gate access code box. The driver of a 2012 Chevy Silverado pickup truck was heading west on Littleton toward the Aluminum Rd. intersection when Martell backed out of the driveway onto the roadway directly into the pathway of of the truck. The driver of the truck made an evasive maneuver, and the truck’s front end and side hit the right side of the van. This caused the van to overturn into the grassy shoulder of the road. Martell was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, an adult passenger and a 2-year-old in the truck had minor injuries.
