A 3-year-old girl was airlifted Tuesday evening to Lee Memorial Hospital after an accident involving a lawnmower.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened on 6th Avenue SE in Golden Gate Estates shortly after 7 p.m.
A report from the sheriff’s office states the girl’s father was mowing the lawn and believed everyone was inside the house, but the girl had ventured outside. The report says the father took action to avoid hitting the girl with the mower, but was unable to.
The child lost one of her legs below the knee, deputies said.
Her father will not be facing any charges.
