An active employee with the Florida Department of Children and Families has been arrested and faces two charges of lewd and lascivious behavior, molesting a minor, after two teenagers say he inappropriately touched them and made comments that were sexual in nature, according to a police report.

Enrico Joseph Mendes, Jr. currently works for Florida DCF and was a former Collier County sheriff’s deputy as well as an employee for the School District of Lee County, as confirmed by those employers.

On May 13, the two victims participated in separate interviews with the Children’s Advocacy Center, according to a report.

One of the teen victims said she felt uncomfortable when Mendes looked at her and would sometimes enter her bedroom while she was changing. She also said he’d followed her into bathrooms as well as inappropriately touching her breasts and private parts. She said this had occurred over the past few years and the most recent incident was about a month ago.

The second teen victim said Mendes would stand in the doorway of the bathroom when he would go to take a shower and take his clothes off and would stare at his private parts. He also said Mendes had shown him porn before, asked him to touch himself inappropriately and has also taken photos of his private area.

Mendes was arrested Thursday and had his first court appearance on Friday where he was charged with two separate counts of lewd and lascivious behavior. His bond was set at $100,000 ($50,000 per charge).

Mendes will also have GPS tracking, cannot go back to the location of offense and must not have any unsupervised contact with minors or with the alleged victims.
