Sheriff’s office says Hendry County Jail inmate tests positive for COVID-19

Hendry County Sheriff’s Office confirms an inmate at Hendry County Jail tested positive for the coronavirus Wednesday.

According to the HCSO Facebook post, Hendry County Jail Officials received notification they currently have one inmate who has tested positive for COVID-19.

“We are continuing to follow all CDC guidelines and isolating new inmates as they come in and have quarantined all inmates,” Sheriff Steve Whidden was quoted in the social media post.

Sheriff Whidden continued, “The inmate that is currently positive for COVID-19, has been isolated in a negative pressure cell. All inmates that have been housed and within close proximity of the inmate have been tested and we are currently awaiting the results.”
