COVID-19 testing site to reopen at Charlotte County Sports Park

The COVID-19 drive-thru testing site at Charlotte County Sports Park, just outside Port Charlotte, will reopen July 7.

The Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County will provide free testing at the park, located at 2300 El Jobean Rd., Tuesday, July 7, and Thursday, July 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Appointments aren’t required but can be made at https://coadfl.org/.

Individuals must be 18 years and older. Anti-body testing will not be available.

Results may take up to 7-10 business days.

Other testing locations in Charlotte County:

  • Publix by Florida Division of Emergency Management: 4265 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte. Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. until supplies run out. Appointments are not required. No cost.
  • CVS Pharmacy: 2400 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda. Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday-10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. By appointment only. Register at CVS.com. No cost.
  • Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida: 4300 Kings Hwy. #210, Port Charlotte.  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Must meet CDC criteria for testing. Individuals must be 18 years and older. Call ahead – 844-342-7935.

NOTE: The test site located at the Cooper Street Recreational Center in Punta Gorda is no longer be operational as of June 30.

Local pediatricians: Most Charlotte County pediatricians are doing testing for current patients. Must meet CDC criteria for testing. Contact your current provider for more information.

Robert Taylor Community Center Drive Up Clinic – 1845 34th St., Sarasota. All ages. No appointment needed. 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. While supplies last.
