A current Red Sox pitcher — who has World Series champion and 7-time MLB all-star on his resume — will add another accolade to his list of honors and accomplishments when he is inducted into FGCU Hall of Fame.

Pitcher Chris Sale helped take the Eagles to a conference championship win back in 2010.

Although Sale won’t be on the mound for the start of spring training at JetBlue Park at Fenway South due to shoulder surgery, he’s still excited to be in Southwest Florida, a place that helped shape him into the player he is today.

“The promised land. It was awesome,” Chris said publicly. “I always appreciate going back there and things like that. You know, that’s where I started my life and picked up steam. I appreciated it. It was an honor.”

Sale and the Red Sox bullpen practiced Wednesday and have their first full-squad workout Monday.
