Eight people, including four children, were displaced after a house fire late Wednesday in East Naples.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross Florida Gulf Coast to Heartland Chapter responded to help those impacted by the fire on Cortez Circle.

Michelin Vicilus is the father of the family whose home was damaged by the fire. He shares a duplex with his daughter and her family and believes the fire began in her home.

“Especially, my daughter lost everything,” Vicilus said. “Clothes, everything.”

It’s not confirmed if the duplex was destroyed, but those who live there were without a home for the night, so the Red Cross stepped in.

The Red Cross says it provided emergency financial assistance, relief items such as toiletries, health and mental health services, one-on-one support to connect people to available recovery assistance and will continue to provide additional support to the families to meet their disaster-caused needs.

Greater Naples Fire Rescue District went to the scene. We are working to confirm more details through the fire agency.
