Road rage driver shot victim’s vehicle 5 times on I-75 in North Port, troopers say

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a road rage incident that involved a shooting on I-75 Friday afternoon in the Sarasota County portion of North Port.

According to FHP, shortly after 3 p.m., troopers responded to a shooting on northbound I-75 near Sumter Boulevard exit 182.

Troopers determined the drivers of a Dodge Ram truck and a Ford F-150 truck engaged in a road rage incident toward another vehicle. The driver of the Dodge fired five shots toward the victim’s vehicle, hitting the right side of the vehicle all five times.

Both pickup trucks then got away from the scene. There were no injuries involved, and the investigation is ongoing with criminal charges pending.
