As of the Monday 8 a.m. advisory, Elsa remains a tropical storm with maximum sustained wind of 65 mph. The storm’s movement is still to the northwest at 14 mph.

Elsa will be briefly making landfall in Cuba this afternoon before entering the Florida Straights tonight. The National Hurricane Center agrees with the overwhelming model guidance that suggests Elsa will not restrengthen into a hurricane.

The majority of the storm’s impacts on Southwest Florida will likely be felt Tuesday through Wednesday morning.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Flamingo to Englewood and includes coastal Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties.

A Tropical Storm Watch on the west coast of Florida has been extended northward from Anclote River to Aucilla River and includes inland Lee and Charlotte counties.

A Storm Surge Watch is in effect for the west coast of Florida from Bonita Beach to the Suwannee River.

A Flood Watch is in effect for Charlotte and Lee counties through late Tuesday.
