Surveillance footage showed a man accused of armed robbery at a Circle K gas station in south Fort Myers Monday night. He has since been identified as John Douglas Smith, 25, of Fort Myers, and arrested, according to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.

Lee County Sheriff’s deputies went to the Circle K located at 12251 Metro Parkway at around 11:45 p.m. in response to a call about a robbery with a firearm. They were told a man entered the store and approached the cashier, brandishing a black semi-automatic handgun, demanding money from the register and threatening to shoot the clerk. After the store clerk complied, Smith ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
