A man from Port. St. Lucie was arrested in Collier County on Thursday after deputies pulled him over and say they found multiple fraudulent checks and credit cards in his possession.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Kenny Bonnet, 22, was pulled over while driving west on Alligator Alley after deputies saw him texting on a cell phone. A check of Bonnet’s state motor vehicle records showed he had a suspended license in Florida.

While speaking to Bonnet, deputies say they smelled marijuana coming from his vehicle. Bonnet handed deputies a small bag of marijuana from inside the glovebox and told them he did not have a medical marijuana card.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found numerous checks and credit cards that were found to be fraudulent, along with a loaded handgun concealed in the back pocket of the front passenger seat.

Bonnet was arrested and now faces multiple charges: 11 counts of uttering a forged instrument and one count of possession of counterfeit credit cards, plus misdemeanor marijuana possession and narcotic equipment possession charges after deputies also found a marijuana grinder and rolling papers.
