Governor Ron DeSantis announced more than $2 million in housing assistance and other resources are now available to the people impacted by January’s tornadoes.

The funding is part of the State Housing Initiative Program (SHIP) and will assist families by replacing mobile homes that were destroyed by the tornadoes. You can find your local SHIP office to apply for assistance by clicking here.

“I am committed to making sure that Floridians have the necessary resources to rebuild following a disaster,” said Governor Ron DeSantis in a news release about the new assistance. “Our state agencies continue to work with private, public, and local partners to provide meaningful assistance and ensure these communities have access to resources that aid their recovery efforts.”

SHIP is administered by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation and is designed to address the unmet housing needs of low and moderate-income families.

DeSantis also said that the assistance provided through larger federal programs he had previously announced is still available to those who need it.
