A Southwest Florida student wrote a song for his uncle, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, and performed it in front of his family and classmates.

Christopher Rosario realized by age nine that he had a gift. He could sing. At age 11, his uncle enhanced his talent when he taught him how to strum the strings of a ukelele.

Not long after that, Chris got a piece of news that rocked him. Doctors diagnosed his uncle with follicular lymphoma, a form of cancer that attacks white blood cells. It is a chronic condition, and usually, there is no cure.

“I was very devastated. I was very sad, because he has been through a lot. And that was just very tough for our family,” said Christopher.

Christopher leaned on his gift to cope with the news. Through music, Chris thought, maybe he could help his uncle heal, so he picked up the ukulele and wrote a song.

“I wrote that because some people need healing. And some people in general just need to listen to words because Jesus is a healer. So, I believe that he can just heal those who need it and that I just wanted to be like an encourager for people who really needed it,” said Chris.

To do that, Chris got up on stage at Fort Myers Christian School. His mom, uncle, classmates and teachers all heard him sing his heart out.

“He’s great. He’s great. I mean, you guys can see in the video of his voice, and he’s amazing. He’s definitely great,” said Chris’ uncle after the heartfelt performance.

The lyrics and Chris’ message mean a lot to his uncle, who prefers to stay out of the spotlight.

“He surprised me with this song. I was in shock when I received the news that he wrote a song for me. And you know, after a few weeks, I actually saw him performing, and that was just amazing,” said Chris’ uncle.

Chris calls his song My Healer, and he believes every word.
