Sanibel police have identified 22 people who appeared in video covertly taken inside of the Bowman Beach bathroom on the island.

Police arrested 58-year-old Dana Caruso, who is accused of placing the camera in the bathroom at the end of July.

The device captured more than 270 videos running on a continuous loop in 5-minute increments. In total, there are 55 victims, police said.

“Some of the victims appear in more than one video clip. There are numerous video clips of an empty bathroom. Several videos at the end of the time period in question show police personnel at the beginning of the investigation,” police said.

The Sanibel Police Department is still working to identify many of the 55 people captured on camera.

In addition to the restroom video, police are using footage from surveillance cameras located outside of the bathroom to help identify victims.

Anyone who used the family restrooms at Bowman’s Beach on July 28, 2022 is asked to contact Detective John Eicher at the Sanibel Police Department by calling (239) 472-3111.
