The National Hurricane Center highlighted Invest 90L, an area of low pressure associated with the storms that are stretching through the eastern Gulf of Mexico and over Southwest Florida for a low-end, 20% chance of development.

The Weather Authority Meteorologist Juliana Mejia noted, “It’s expected to track northeast across the state in the next few days and has better odds of developing once in the Atlantic.”

This area of low-pressure is in conjunction with the heavy rainfall being seen throughout Southwest Florida.

In its Tropical Weather Discussion, the NHC explained, “Environmental conditions are expected to be generally unfavorable, although some slow development is possible when the system is offshore of the U.S. Southeast coast.”

  • Formation chance through 48 hours is 10%
  • Formation chance through 7 days is at nearly 20%

Regardless, the formation has no significant impact on the Southwest Florida region, Mejia said.
