Partial ceiling collapse in Naples; 9 treated for injuries

Nine people were injured, and seven were taken in for care after a ceiling collapse at a Naples restaurant Sunday evening.

There was a big emergency response after the ceiling collapsed in this place – something no one ever expected while eating inside.

Naples Police and the Naples Fire Department responded to the scene at La Trattoria, located at 878 5th Avenue South.

The Fire Department reported around 6:45 on Sunday evening, units were dispatched to “a structural collapse at La Trattoria.”

“The Battalion Chief requested a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident be dispatched. Engine 1 and Collier County EMS Medic 1 arrived on the scene to find numerous patients,” the department said.

Naples Police Department assisted with getting people out of the restaurant.

Naples Fire said nine members of the public reported injuries; seven people were taken to local hospitals.

5th Avenue South between 9th Street South and 8th Street South will be closed during the investigation.

According to the Naples Fire Department, “The collapse appears to be isolated to this structure, and neighboring buildings are not affected.”

The location will be closed pending an investigation and repairs.
