Cruising through repairs on the Caloosahatchee Bridge Project

Published: Updated:

With two weeks left until the Caloosahatchee Bridge reopens, the Florida Department of Transportation is offering a bird’s eye view of its progress in a comparison drone video.

The agency closed the bridge on May 31, 2024, and stated at that time it would be closed for 10 weeks.

FDOT said crews have finished the bridge deck replacement and constructed 90% of the median barrier wall. Additionally, 95% of the guardrail installation along the northbound side of the bridge is complete.

It is scheduled to reopen on August 11, the day before the new school year begins for students.

When it reopens, you should still expect nighttime bridge closures and daytime lane closures. Weather permitting, the entire project is expected to be completed by December 2024 or early 2025.
