Man accused of DUI after crashing into light pole in Fort Myers

A man has been arrested for allegedly driving under the influence before crashing into a light pole and leaving the scene in Fort Myers.

On Wednesday, at approximately 11:32 a.m., Fort Myers police responded to a hit-and-run at the Cleveland Avenue and Stella Street intersection.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers saw the suspect’s car at Cleveland and Lafayette Street, which had crashed into a concrete light pole.

Officers immediately detained the driver, 38-year-old Anthony Clemens, who was still seated in the running vehicle.

Clemens reportedly showed signs of impairment.

He’s being charged with DUI with damage to property or person and hit-and-run.
