Lee County voters settled on many of its leaders and who will be on the general election ballot with the primary election Aug. 20, which had a 23% turnout. Incumbent District 5 County Commissioner Mike Greenwell defeated fellow Alva resident Amanda Cochran, winning with about 55% of the vote to her 45%, 34,104 votes to 27,538. Greenwell, who was appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the seat following the death of Frank Mann in 2022, could not be reached for comment.
