Sun Broadcasting radio station 92.5 Fox News will once again honor the memory of the innocent lives lost on 9/11 by planting 2,977 American flags at Bernice Braden Park.

On Labor Day, you can go to the park near the foot of the Cape Coral bridge to help put the flags out. Work on the display will start at 9 a.m.

Wednesday, the Cape Coral City Council approved Sun Broadcasting to use the city-owned park for the display.

On Sept. 11, 2001, our country was attacked and forever changed by Islamic terrorism.

Planes were hijacked and deliberately flown into two World Trade Center buildings, leading to the collapse of the Twin Towers, killing thousands of people in the buildings, on the ground, and in the planes.

Another high-jacked plane was flown into and severely damaged the Pentagon. Hundreds of lives were lost inside the Pentagon and aboard the plane.

Former Fort Myers Police Officer CeeCee Lyles was a flight attendant on flight 93, a plane that was taken over by terrorists but crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, as passengers fought back.  Her husband, at the time, was also a Fort Myers Police Officer.

Forty passengers and crew aboard Flight 93 died.

The flags will be displayed through Sept. 11.
