DeSantis issues state of emergency for parts of SWFL due to tropical activity

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has issued a state of emergency in multiple counties, including Charlotte, Collier and Lee counties.

This comes after heavy storms associated with Potential Tropical System 9 are expected to cause storm surge and flash flooding in multiple areas.

According to the National Hurricane Center, this low-pressure system is expected to intensify over the next 48 hours as the storm moves toward the Gulf of Mexico.

The next name would be Helene.
