UPDATE: This Missing Child Alert has been canceled by the FDLE. The child is safe.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Collier County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a teenager who was last seen in South Naples and reported missing a week ago.

According to FDLE, 16-year-old Dylan Helms was last seen on Thursday, near the intersection of Santa Barbara Boulevard and Whitaker Road.

CCSO told us that Helms ran away from a youth shelter. Staff observed him leaving but could not catch him because of his wheelchair, citing that he was too fast. Staff do not know of any endangerment.

Helms is a double-leg amputee in a wheelchair. He has blonde hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing a black beanie, white tank top and khaki or black pants.

His hair may be longer than shown in the photo.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, please get in touch with FDLE or call the CCSO at 239-252-9300.
