The San Carlos Park Fire Protection and Rescue responded to a scene where they pulled an intoxicated man from a pond in Three Oaks.

Firefighters received a call shortly after midnight on Tuesday about a distressed person in a lake between the Murano Apartments and Interstate 75.

According to SCPFD, the man was about 100-150 feet offshore when first responders arrived at the scene.

Lee County Public Safety provided medical care. South Trail Fire Protection & Rescue Service District, Iona McGregor Fire District’s Dive Team, and Lee County Sheriff’s Office were also on the scene.

WINK News was on the scene, where a reporter spoke with an SCPFD Battalion Chief.

The chief confirmed to WINK News that the man was intoxicated while in the lake, and after first responders rescued him, it was determined that he was not drowning but was swimming.

The man was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
