Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference in Tallahassee with an update on preparations for Hurricane Milton.

Crews are all hands on deck for debris removal from Hurricane Helene.

The Florida National Guard, Florida State Guard, additional Florida Department of Transportation personnel, and Florida Highway Patrol are all hands on deck for the debris removal mission. Over 800 guardsmen are currently deployed in impacted areas, and 4,000 are ready to be deployed throughout the state. The National Guard is also deploying heavy equipment to assist with debris removal.

He is urging people to be prepared for the storm.

“Have the plan, execute the plan. Now is the time to do it,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis urged those in vulnerable areas susceptible to storm surge to leave as soon as possible and not wait.
