Clean up on Marco Island after Milton

Marco Island has gone through a lot to get to where it’s at today, and now another hurricane has come and set them back once again.

On Marco Island, there isn’t much visible damage aside from some debris, but the main problem Hurricane Milton brought neighborhoods was power outages.

Hurricane Milton left 78% of Marco Island without power by early Thursday morning, but because of Lee County Executive Cooperative, that number is down to 30% Friday and quickly decreasing.

An LCEC worker, Cyrus Bruce, has been working on the island for the past two days.

“We’ve been everywhere on our island, so I’d say probably 14-15 neighborhoods, at least,” he said.

Bruce assured WINK News that they are addressing every trouble call and will continue to work to restore power to the remaining homes.

As of Friday evening, 2,000 LCEC customers on Marco Island and 67,500 FPL customers in Collier County are still without power.
