The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced free vouchers for its Gopher Tortoise license plates.

Due to an anonymous donor, the FWC can offer free vouchers for its “Protect the Gopher Tortoise” license plate.

The voucher will waive the initial $33 pre-sale reservation for the license plates.

According to the FWC, the plates will begin production once 3,000 voucher sign-ups are accomplished.

Conservation-minded Floridians can use this opportunity to reserve their adorable gopher tortoise plates.

The tortoise is a threatened species in Florida, primarily due to the upland habitat loss.

A keystone species, these reptiles will dig burrows used by more than 360 other animal species.
