The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested a Fort Myers man accused of reckless driving and possession of illegal substances.

Troopers arrested Derrick Jerome Truttling,30, on Wednesday while assisting the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office in actively pursuing a reckless driving 2016 BMW on southbound Interstate 75.

According to troopers, when they began pursuing Truttling, he attempted to flee from law enforcement, entering exit 195, Laurel Road.

In his attempt, Truttling collided with the curbed median, which disabled his vehicle and caused it to stop on the return ramp to I-75.

Upon his arrest, troopers discovered that Truttling was driving with a suspended license while also possessing 3 grams of cocaine, 304 grams of marijuana edibles, and 59 grams of marijuana.
