Collier authorities investigate Metro PCS armed robbery

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- The search is on for a man who robbed a Metro PCS store with a gun Thursday night.

WINK News was there moments after an armed robbery occurred at the cellphone store on Davis Boulevard..

An employee says she was alone in the store when a man with a mask walked into Metro PCS with a gun and demanded the clerk hand over all the cash in the register before taking off.

Detectives used dogs and a helicopter to search for the robber, but they were unable to find him.

Kristina Johnson works at Metro PCS and tells WINK News the other employee was so frightened by the ordeal, she quit.

Now, Johnson says she’s afraid to be in the store alone.

“We’re all scared, nobody wants to work by ourselves at closing at 8 o’clock at night,” said Johnson.

Detectives are investigating if this crime is connected to another robbery from a month ago.

Surveillance pictures taken from the store on US 41 East show a robber who was also wearing a mask and armed with a had a handgun stole money from the register before taking off.
