COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- A welfare check turned into a Christmas miracle for one East Naples family.

Nadia Gonzalez got a huge surprise after a deputy came to her apartment to collect a welfare check.

The deputy that went to the home noticed they were fine, except that the mother and her three daughters had very little and were in great need.

She says a phone call her ex made to the Sheriff’s Office has now made this Christmas quite special.

“He actually did me a favor by calling the cops,” laughed Gonzalez.

A few days later, she was picked up from work by the police officer’s wife

“We get in the car and we go to my house and I see that there’s this trailer full of toys and furniture,” said Gonzalez.

It was all thanks to the generosity of Cpl. Robert Bremer who then reached out to local businesses in the area.

“That’s what the season is about. Making people better than they might have been the day before,” said Sheriff Kevin Rambosk.

Gonzalez, a single mother of three, says she was in shock.

“When the kids saw everything that was in the living room, my oldest she just started screaming around the house.”

But the gifts didn’t end there, Gonzalez received a car and more than $1,000 in gift cards.

“The company that doesn’t want to be named… giving me their Christmas bonuses for the family.. that is amazing because now I can buy my kids clothes.”

“The bottom line is, it was a selfless act of kindness by Corporal Bremmer, his family, deputies, businesses and nurses throughout the area and that’s what Christmas is all about,” said Sheriff Rambosk.

Gonzalez says she’s truly grateful for all that’s been provided to her family.
