Lehigh Acres bait dog continues to improve

Published:

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A dog, severely injured after being used as a bait dog in Lehigh Acres, is continuing to show improvement.

Sunset has gained 15 pounds and most of her wounds have healed since the Gulf Coast Humane Society (GCHS) took her in.

Her foot is healing slowly but vets say it is still a concern. They will be taking x-rays Tuesday and they are still working on the dental appointment.

If you’d like to help pay for Sunset’s treatment, donate to GCHS’ Second Chance Fund.

Over $24,000 has been raised by residents to reward those who come forward with information about dog fighting in Southwest Florida.

Anyone with information on the abuse of animals is asked to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward.
