Cape Coral trolley starts tonight

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- There’s a new way to get around Southwest Florida’s largest city.

WINK News was there as a new trolley service started in downtown Cape Coral.

It will run every Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight and take you to and from nine bars in the south Cape district.

It’s funded by the South Cape Hospitality and Entertainment Association. Business owners say this could be a major step in revitalization downtown Cape Coral.

“It is going to increase the revenue a lot and more people will be able to travel to more businesses not just one bar,” said Juan Rincon with Monkey Bar and Steakhouse.

“Instead of just going to Dixie, or I’m going to Backstreets, or I’m going to TIKI, we want people to start thinking they are going to south Cape and there is a lot of options there,” said Lynn Pippenger with Dixie Roadhouse.

The trolley is $2 for the night. It will run until May 30, then the Hospitality and Entertainment Association will evaluate if it’s worth continuing the trolley service.
